Rush Hour: The beginning of it all

The blend of Kung Fu from Jackie Chan as Lee and the comedic elements of Chris Tucker as Carter were some of the reasons why people know and love this film. This film is certainly up there as one of the best buddy cop films out there. An 11-year-old girl was kidnapped and Carter and Lee had to go rescue them.

Chan as a character is the type of person who is known for all of his kung fu stunts and Tucker, who is a comedian by trait, made this film a recipe for success. One good thing which the film gave the audience was the introduction of the two characters. Lee is a man of experience and has been there and done that in the past. He's not the talkative type of character and he lets the action do the talking. Tucker, not known to be known as a serious person, uses his street-smart intelligence to get him out of situations and is known for his humour.

Now, take an in-depth look at why these two characters were seen as a success. With Lee hailing from Hong Kong, the film started in Hong Kong with the film taking place in Los Angeles (LA) in the future, with the introduction of Carter being shown in his own city of LA.

Now with Lee and Carter coming from different backgrounds, culture was one of the reasons which elevated the comedic and action elements in the film. There were moments when Lee was trying to embrace the American culture and Carter embraced certain moments of Lee's culture with few moments of miscommunication which led to comedic elements of the film.

Even some of the locations just added to the film location which resembles each character's location. The film was just perfect because each character never outshone the other and they just complimented each other and each character had their moment. In terms of pure comedic elements, despite Carter being in his own country, there were just moments where Lee showed his experience in handling a situation which made Carter look not so smart. Even when Lee was instructing the FBI that the idea that they were doing was not a good idea, they overlooked him because of how he is seen as a foreigner in another country. For Carter, even in a situation where in high-tense situations, Carter's humour just makes viewers forget about the situation, which just shows the perfect reason why this film is perfect and how each character just does a good job of highlighting the main points of the film.

With that being said, the first segment of Rush Hour was certainly something enjoyable to watch and this film is truly a classic.
