Back again with another Violet Evergarden blog, and today, we are discussing the second segment of the show, Violet Evergarden Special. So, if you watch the entire series, this is like a one-off episode - lasting 30 minutes. This was released the same year as the series.
Following up from the ending, Violet is the talk of the town. She’s in demand and people want her to write her letters. You see her progression through the series and she’s able to do her job to the best. However, with that being said, she still lacks that emotional connection but also goes through a certain obstacle. She was hired by an artist and was asked to write a song for her. She's only trained to write letters for people, so you can see the challenge she's going through.
Coming off the first season, which was a fantastic series, I would say that this 'stand-alone episode' is something I certainly enjoyed it, but still puzzled as to why it was not included in the series itself. I just enjoyed how Violet's character changed and how she's become a different person. Especially the fact that she almost wanted to give up but in the end, she wrote a song which was loved by everyone. I would say that she maintains that character we all know her for, and how she never gives up no matter how tough the challenge is.
You can say that one thing which blossoms about her is, her relationship with the customers. She's willing to do anything to understand her client's wants and needs, which shows her dedication to how she wants to change. She also discovered the word 'love', which is something you have not seen in her in the series, and thus enables her to impress her client. It's another sort of mini-milestone that Violet has discovered about herself. I feel that there's always a certain progression that we all discover about Violet every time we watch her.
I certainly enjoyed this special episode. It certainly could've been one of the episodes in the series but on its own, I like it. This special episode showcases what Violet has learnt in the past and how she is applying it - especially discovering the way she is able to showcase the word 'love' through writing.
