Violet Evergarden is a series which I certainly enjoy watching, and I liked watching the content being produced, whether it's a film or the series, I enjoyed watching it.
If you haven't watched the series, this special showcases what Violent has been through and is applying what she knows. She's been given a task to write a song - which is something out of her job scope.
The narrative of the story is simple, effective, and straight to the point - something which I like about the entire series and the uniqueness of the story. Violent Evergarden's story is not like your typical story which you see in an anime film - such as your action film, romance, etc which makes this anime unique. Its uniqueness is one of the reasons why I like to watch it. Sure there are other films which I like to watch, but then again, it's just something different when I watch Violet Evergarden.
Each segment of Violet Evergaden you watch showcases the rise of Violet - showing us all how she's improving each time you see her. One thing which remained lacking from Violet is the emotional value when writing her letters. She used to be a soldier back in the series and she's trying to get to grips with how her new life is going to be like. However, despite her lack of understanding of emotions, she takes the initiative to read books and reading letters which shows what love means. It's this sort of thing which makes me like the series - there's that character development which happens when Violet and you as the audience are intrigued to find out what has Violent learnt. In a way, it keeps you hooked and want to know more.
I liked the use of the metaphors which the films give off. Such as with the use of letters - during the time it was taken in, using letters was the only form of communication. Nowadays, messaging a person is as simple as 1, 2, 3, but a letter in a way is something people back then looked forward to reading. Hence, people want the letter to me as memorable as possible. But through the letters alone, you meet some characters who can tell a story through a letter. I guess it's like directly not telling a story but at the same time telling a story.
The Violent Evergarden series/films is certainly a unique series out there. It gives the viewer something different for you to watch, and I certainly enjoyed watching this segment.
